Charity:Water Fifth Anniversary September Campaign


Last year Lydia mobilized her friends and family to pitch in their money for a great cause through Charity Water en route to raising enough money to build a well. There is another campaign that CW runs annually, and this year’s was no small feat. The Charity Water team raised a whopping $1.2 million in order to fund the purchase of new well drilling rigs. They report:

“Last September you fundraised, donated and came to a birthday party — all to help us raise money for two new drilling rigs in Tigray, Ethiopia. The first of the two rigs broke ground drilling its first well in Merara Village on February 28, 2012. Hours into the drill, it hit a massive aquifer of pure ground water. And that’s just the beginning. Each rig will go on to drill 80 new wells, and together they’ll change 80,000 lives — every single year for the next 15 years.”
