Container-Kay Architecture

This house belongs to Sophie’s friend, Laurent’s brother Olivier. Using a shipping container to shell a house is a concept we are very familiar with after staying in one that belongs to Lydia’s fam for a good portion of last summer. Containers make ideal spaces for people who don’t want to be inside all day, and are easier to manage than a full sized kay. Reformatting shipping containers is a well known concept, but I think an underutilized one in terms of residential spaces, which could be effective for providing relatively inexpensive malleable structures. This container kay was located on a family complex about 5 minutes by car from Sophie’s. Although we didn’t get a look inside I’m sure it is as cool as the exterior. Here is the one we stayed in on the Cotê d’Azur.
